Correction & Withdrawal Requests

Ask the editors to correct a published article, to change a manuscript under review, or to withdraw it.

What you can ask for

Request	How it is handled
Change to a manuscript under review	For example a corrected author list, affiliation or file. All authors must agree to a change of authors.
Withdrawal before publication	Possible at any stage before acceptance, free of charge. Please tell us the reason.
Correction of a published article	Errors that affect the record are corrected with a published, linked correction notice; the article itself keeps its DOI.
Retraction or expression of concern	For seriously unreliable findings or misconduct, decided by the editors under the ethics statement.

We confirm receipt within five working days.

An editor checks the request with all authors and, where needed, the reviewers.

You receive the decision and, for published work, a link to the notice.
